It is reasonable but I'd prefer not to go for the Abit motherboard, I think the Nforce 4 chipset is better than the Via ULi that the Abit is based on. The motherboard also only supports AGP graphics cards, I don't know if you need that but if you do I'd suggest the ASRock Dual as being a better bet albeit that also is based on the ULi chipset.

I have 250 max to spend on a:

Motherboard
CPU and Memory (2gb prefered)

So im stuck when knowing what to go for so all options you can think of to steer me in the right direction would be great :)

No, it's individually selected components.
There's nothing wrong with bundles but what trojan698 has specced is probably better than any of the bundles in your budget range.
I've used that RAM with ASRock boards before, no problems, though you may have to set the correct RAM speed (400mhz) in the bios as mine auto-detected at 333MHZ.
The CPU will work in any board which supports it, as this one does.
The main advantage of trojan698's spec is that the motherboard has both (the older) AGP & (the newer) PCI-E graphics cards sockets. So you won't be locked into out-of-date technology & will have a better upgrade path. It's a very popular budget motherboard - bit of a classic.

Does this motherboard need an extra 4pin power lead? If so, is that plugged in?

yeh its in, i get to boot up normal or safe. then no matter wch i choose it reboots :(

Unsure but its only been running for 30 secs before the reboot, the only screen i can get up when trying to get in bios is where to boot from floppy or hdd

Does it restart in the BIOS as well, or do the other screens just not load up? You should be able to check the temps in the BIOS.

Might sound dumb but i thought the key to get in bios was delete or f5 but delete does nothing and f5 just gives me the option of schoosing the hdd or floppy

Hmm delete usually is the key to get into the BIOS but I think it might be F2 with asrocks, try that

Thanks it was f2.

The cpu is holding steady at 33oc

Could it be my ram only running at 333mh and not 400 ?
