hello folks, I am after some info about burglar alarms and don't seem to be able to find a good source.

I have a detached house and want to fit an intruder alarm as our local area has had a few burglaries while people have been home but I want a few specific things.

I am looking for an alarm I can fit myself but the main thing is because I have 3 large dogs I need to be able to just use window/door sensors while I am at home

I would like to use door/window sensors for when I am at home and also PIR sensors for when we are all away.

The main thing I am looking for is when I am in the house I want to be able to have the door/window sensors active but if they are tripped to have an internal siren rather than have the external siren sound and then when I am away from the property have the external alarm sound to alert neighbours.

does anyone have suggestions, most of the alarms I have looked at don't mention about only using an internal sounder and seem to say that the external alarm would sound ?

Thanks for any help and advice

A friend of mine has some pet tolerant PIRs, might be worth a look. You can get them from Amazon but you might find more info at online pet stores.
Andi.

I've got a Collie and two cats and use pet tolerant PIRs around the house and in my old house before. The animals have never set the alarm off.. I on the other hand have set it off a few times, stumbling around half asleep in the mornings. I think mine is Visonic kit.

I've got a texecom which I have mobile alerts and the ability to set via the app etc.

I've got a big boxer dog so pet pir's don't work with him. We have it set to "perimeter" most of the time as the dog roams the whole house unless we all leave including the dog then it gets fully set.

Not 100% on the internal alarm but suprised if you couldnt do this. But why do you want this?

I had mine supplied and fitted, careful with self fitting with home insurance, certain policies asked about qualified fitters etc for discounts.

Texecom Ricochet can be configured to do everything you've asked for. You'll need the USB programming cable and the Wintex software from their website. There is a learning curve with the software but the customisation and options are extensive.
