I think they make the women wear them so they can concentrate on the little girls. Or was that just one particular guy who did that?

If it were the Jews blowing up our public transport systems and smuggling bombs onto airliners then I reckon people would be "on their case", as you put it.

However, they aren't are they? It's Muslims who get all violent and start blowing **** up and rioting when someone says a bad thing about their medieval religion.

It's not always forced upon a woman.

People seem to moan about labour government banning stuff and go on about "big brother nation".
As soon as UKIP wants to do it, everyone flies on board "Oh what a brilliant idea, why don't we also get some ID cards, that would be wonderful and prevent terrorism"

Personally, I don't see the point in banning what is essentially an item of clothing, barely anyone uses it as a disguise. Most criminals are too stupid?

To be honest islam is in the dark ages but written as a peaceful religion.
I'm an atheist but it's no worse than christianity or any other religion.

Some people just interpret it wrong, this is when all the stupidity comes into it.

If you re-read my posts you'll see I have stated my opposition to a ban - the only exceptions being in places where it's necessary for the face to be seen.

I was responding to your point about "typical racist party not respecting cultures" - not your exact words but that was the general point - and merely pointing out that we have no obligation to accept a culture or religion if parts of it deny a portion of it's members rights or freedoms.

If a woman chooses to wear the Burka or any other item of clothing that is her choice, however, is she feels compelled to wear it because of a misguided interpretation of religion or some archaic sexist cultural practice then it is wrong, and neither I or most right minded inviduals will accept it. I know for a fact some women choose to wear it as it makes them more "comfortable" and "preserves their beauty" but many also wear it as they've been brought up to believe it's a religious or cultural neccessity.

Banning the Burka on the whole would be counter-productive and would simply serve to increase the perception that evil westerners are intent on turning good chaste Muslim women into "whores".

At one point Islamic countries embraced scientific endeavour and tolerance of other religions, also I'm sure the Koran encourages (some of the positives for a change) critical thinking, education and self improvement. Such is the problem with the holy books - they're so open to interpretation that parts of them can used to legitmise anything.
 
Yes ban it 100%. Its pathetic and dehumanizing in every possible way, I can't see any beneficial means for wearing it other than making people nearby rather uncomfortable.

Have you ever tried having a conversation with someone wearing a burka? Its awful. Its a lot like talking on the telephone only you've got to look through a little black slot at two eyes staring back at you.

I'm sorry but no one could ever persuade me to think otherwise on this matter. Its completely backwards in every possible sense and has no place in a civilized country. Its something that's meant for muslim countries that treat their woman like objects, that's where it should stay. It has no place here in the UK or any civilized place for that matter.

I'm surprised to see so many people vote for an outright ban when these same people are probably the ones who complain about how 'backwards' certain ethnic groups are.

You're as backwards as them. This is Britain. Freedom of speech and freedom to do what the hell you damn want to, within reason, should rein supreme here. At the end of the day, people who choose to wear a burka should be free to wear one if it's not causing any harm, which it doesn't.

I agree with the notion that its wearing should be stricter as it obviously imposes security risks and what not.
