Situation in work today where one of my colleagues has discovered a problem in the last few days with his 17" LCD screen.

He discovered a few lines wouldn't go away from his screen no matter how many adjustments he made to the screen resolution, refresh or panel settings. I was asked to help him out with it so I tried thing's like using the screensaver and changing desktop background colour to black and only a few lines appear. I then realised it was the Microsoft Word file menu and top/bottom toolbars.

The air temperature in the room is about 31°C and the operating temperature of the screen is 35°C so is it possible the image has burnt onto the screen due to excessive heat? I've not experienced the problem anywhere with decent air conditioning here, leading me to think heat is the issue.

It's about six months to a year old. I knew about these problems with older LCD screens although I didn't know if it still happened, that's why I thought it was the heat.

I'll see if the monitor can be replaced under warranty. :)
