When I burn a video file on a blank DVD disc, when it has reached a 100% burn, a message appears saying that the disc is not a valid DVD player disc, or something to that effect. I can use a standard CD-R but it has nowhere near as much space as a DVD.

Also, is anyone familiar with the Sony DVP NS585P playing in black and white?

Are you literally burning a video file to DVD?

If thats the case then yes it wont work properly unless the player supports the file type, ie. avi, mpg and so on...

WinAVI
ConvertXtoDVD

are 2 programs handy for making watchable DVD's.

If you have the video files in DVD format ready to go to disk, then check this out.

Are you watching an NTSC DVD?

Check the setting of the player, you should have the choice of NTSC, PAL or AUTO. Select auto.

FWIW I use:

WinAVI
ImgTool
ImgBurn

in that order to burn pretty much any video file to dvd :)

I find WinAVI isnt as versatile as ConvertX but perhaps thats coz it kept crashing..

Whatever works for you though... :D

Google is my friend... ;)
