I hire films from LoveFilm. Maybe I want to watch them again at some point. Is it legal to burn them to my computer for personal use?
Cheers

Not that i'm aware of, not in the UK, as you have not purchased them so have no rights to the media other than to watch before returning the disc.

Not sure if it is? You're allowed to make a copy of your own material for back up purposes etc., but Love Film are just lending you a dvd, they're not selling you one.

Nope.
You are paying to rent it i.e use it once/twice not a licence to keep it and use it for personal use, like a DVD, That you could make personal copies of /backup ect.

Do you honestly not know that this is illegal? Have you never seen the anti piracy warnings/adverts on the dvd's you're renting? I'm genuinely suprised, I wouldn't have thought anyone who actively watches films could have missed them.

Actually because I actively watch films I know that the example is of a girl downloading a movie rather than ripping a DVD to watch at a later date.
