it seems ive got a very ugly burn in on my LCD! i can see the ugly telly tubbies style xp theme [ X ] in the top right hand corner and a a light patch for about 50px down and a few pixels in from the right - hard to explain

anyway, i didnt even think this was possible?!?! has the image been burnt in? is there anyway to get rid of it or is it a lost cause?

well theres deffinatly a lil xp style [ X ] in the top right of my screen and a lighter area to the right of it which is clearly the top bar of a window :P so what is it then?

i have burn in on my lcd too.. a pixel remover video should do the trick.. i get mine where my icons are the top 1cm of the screen. really weird

Yeah, they can get something that looks like image burn, even if it's technically something else. I guess it's just the crystals getting slightly out of calibration. I always use a screen saver set on 5 mins, and screen switch off set on 10 mins, and if I'm going to use the PC with taskbar in place for many hours, I'll switch the screen off for a few minutes every few hours.

I've read that setting the whole screen to white and leaving it on overnight can help reduce this image burn once it's happened, or as suggested above, a flashing pixel program or video running for several hours. Some people say just leaving the screen off for 24 hours can help fix it. I guess try all of the above.

I have this problem on my £580 NEC LCD2090UXi, not pretty for such an expensive monitor. I had the same problem on 4 LCD2080UXi's before.

The problem is called 'image persistence' and its not permanent or so they say.

well ive noticed it and then removed it with a pixel video, and it came back the following day.. the only way i can stop it coming back is hiding my icons.. as i use my pc for hours a day and they're always in the same place :(.

uploaded a BIG picture to show what it looked like before i got rid of it.

I have the problem in the top left also. Does that Dell use an IPS panel? I am thinking it may be common on them, which is a bit dumb considering they are built for graphics pros who have windows and tool bars open in the same place for hours..

Only thing you can do is change your window border colour and move any icons in that area around.

Weird, my 2001FP never suffered any burning, perhaps you should talk to Dell about a return.

Try skinning windows, there're a number of apps around to do this, I personally use the uxtheme patcher and skins from deviantart. A different-looking GUI could help in the immediate future.

urgh its back! i just noticed its back! i swear to god it wasnt there this morning! noooo lol

o well crappy monitor gives me an excuse to get a Dell 2007WFP or something lol

lol.. i like your attitude...

ive turned mine portrait and now (i think) its stopped doing it!
