So I was just in a Skype call to my girlfriend who is currently in Germany as part of here university degree. We had been speaking for a while when she said she needed to plug her MacBook in, this is where the trouble started. The light on the MagSafe connector wasn't lighting up at all so I told her to check the brick was plugged in properly and to change to the 'plug-adapter' rather than the long cable in case it was the fuse or something.
So she changed to the plug-adapter but it made no difference, the MacBook still wasn't charging. I told her to restart the MacBook just in case it was some software issue that wasn't letting it charge. She called me back on skype to tell me it still wasn't charging, about a minute later she said she could smell burning. I immediatly told her to unplug the power adapter and not to plug it in again. So she unplugged it and told me that the brick was very hot to touch which sounds like a short in the cable to me.
My girlfriend needs her MacBook for Uni but being in Germany she can't pop to the local Apple store as there is only one in the entire country. I said I would call up Apple tomorrow and see what they suggest. I am assuming that Apple will replace it without any questions because it nearly caused a fire and/or electrocution. The problem is that she is in Germany so how can she get the adapter replaced?
