Hi

Yesterday i noticed a bad electrical burning smell coming from my computer. I narrowed it down to the PSU (OCZ700SXS) which was bought last Arpil. The computer still works fine, but obviously i should take heed and purchase a replacement. PSU calculater says i need at least 520w, could someone recommend me a PSU for around the £60-£80 region please. The OCZ was only £55 (700w) and has showed that it was not of a high enough quality.

suggestions please :)

just opened up the psu and it had some healthy deposits of dust, cleaned it out and re-testing.

Powering the following

e8400 @3.9ghz
8gb DDR2 (4x2gb)
GTX285
4 Sata HD
1 SSD
Asus sound card
Raid card

i need a PSU quite urgently so i ordered a Corsair Builder Series CX 600W V2, would this be better or worse than the suggested Antec? If so i could change my order.

I just powered up the computer to 100% check its the PSU and the thing almost caught fire! full on toxic smoke coming out of it. Looks like the internal braiding from the cables looks like it was sitting on a hot capacitor. Can't be bothered to fiddle with it so just gonna get a new one.

thanks for the replies
