Burnout Dominator: "Violent"

Article said:
The advert for Burnout Dominator showed a wrecked sports car, broken glass and a burning tyre, and had the slogan "Inner peace through outer violence".

To be honest that's just asking for it.

I don't even see why the word violence is used, they could have used aggression, it's actually a better fitting word for what they're trying to say.

Hey it is EA branding it 'Violent' nobody else :p

It isn't really violence anyway,
i agree with Zefan on this one, this sig is too b... oh sorry, wrong thread. They should have used mahem or carnage instead.

'Inner peace through outer carnage' Has a better more approachable ring to it imo.

nti-social behaviour

Those who complained thought the poster was offensive and likely to encourage violence, dangerous driving or vandalism.

The ASA said the slogan, combined with images of a car that seemed to have crashed at high speed and a burning tyre, could be seen to condone dangerous driving and anti-social behaviour.

OF course, ive just been out, rammed cars off the road, hit old grannys, then just reset my life to do it all over again.

That's been the slogan for ages, well before this manhunt rubbish.
This is exactly what everyone said was going to happen, one game gets banned and then the absolute morons around the world unite to get everything else banned.
I quite like the Burnout games, think I might actually take my car out tonight for some real life crash junction, because, that's what happens when you play burnout...

Id be careful before you go labelling everybody morons...I personally think whether or not its been their advertising slogan for a while it is a fairly irresponsible choice and could have easily been avoided with a better choice of words that probably would have fitted better with the burnout theme. Just because you arent influenced by it doesnt mean somebody else wont be.

Suppose, that was just my ranting post of the day though,. It genuinely does make my blood boil whenever I see the PC crowd getting "their message" into the media. Could call it a stubborn viewpoint I guess but it's just the way I feel.
I understand why people try and link realistic violent games to murders, they don't like the concept, need a scapegoat or maybe have genuine concern.

A simple advertising slogan though, I do not get this at all.

The advert would not be seen to support actual violence, the company added.

I agree with this fully. The concept that it condones dangerous driving when the car is crashed and wrecked. Would this not be the opposite? Nobody wants to be an a car crash, especially when the car is a flaming mangled wreck...

At the end of the day it's EA and they can afford to fix the blunder which (thankfully) is only the game advert and not the game concept. Will only be a matter of time until someone gets offended though.
