First, correct me if I am wrong.......
A "dead" pixel typically shows as a single rectangular area which is either off, or displays a random colour (presumably from light bleeding from adjacent cells).
What my Inspiron has, is different. There is a small black dot, comma shaped and about 2mm in lenght near the bottom of my screen. This doesn't look like any dead pixel I have seen before. It looks for all the world like a cell has gone pop and leaked liquid crystal. Another weird symptom is.....well you know, if you touch some LCD screens, you can see waves or ripples running through the LC....well if I tap or touch the screen anywhere at all, this little "comma" has "waves" radiating from it, like a rock in a pond.
Is this just how pixels die now (though it's more than one), or is there something more serious wrong.
Also, my Dell documentation is WELL burried somewhere. Although I think the machine only had a 12 month warranty on it, my bro is convinced the screens are guaranteed for 2 or 3 years, and that this problem involves enough pixels to justify RMA.
Any ideas?
