Yea, as the title said, i was on the way to college in the bus, and were just going over a roudabout, and some scirocco comes flying into the roundabout infront of the bus. The bus driver hit the brakes, and hit the rear drivers side of the scirocco. The scirocco kept going until he parked up.

The bus had more damage than the scorocco :p

What i wanted to know is, would the car, as its front wheel drive, pull itself out of the collision, as i was thinking, if the car was rear wheel drive it would have just stalled.

Why would it do that?

Because Vw's are front wheel drive.... i thought.

Sorry if i havnt made things clear, im German and my english isnt the best at times :S.

No, William was asking why do you think it would stall i think, or why do you think a fwd car would pull itself out (what do you mean by this?)

RWD just means the rear wheels are turned by the engine instead of the front wheels in FWD.

The engine is still at the front (in a Scirocco anyway) and so long as the engine isnt damaged theres no reason for it to stall.

Wouldnt a RWD have more chance of getting turning around due to the wheels pushing it foward and not pulling?

I think thats what he meens so i just made the question more simple :)

If the car got hit on the rear side then possibly having FWD will help control the car, as the front wheels will be straighter and keep traction.

I think he means that if it was RWD the car might of spun around.

well i got hit by a extended transit van pulling onto a roundabout hit me right in the back left wheel and all my 5 series did was go sliding round in circles with a mangles alloy wheel :p

So to answer your question (i think its the question) It doesnt stall when the back wheels get hit even if it is rwd

Depends how hard you're hit - most modern's (hell, fuel injected Triumphs had them, thinking back) have an inertia cut out switch which is to prevent high pressure fuel being sprayed everywhere - so if you're shunted hard enough the engine will cut out regardless....
