Hi Guys,

Looking to put together another little bit future proof PC for business type of use, yet for a heavy multitasking user.
This is not just a Word processing machine, it's more like 3d/video/graphics workstation but without the need for dedicated gfx at the moment.

Got the monitor, keyboard, Windows etc so just the main stuff.
What do you think about this:

Intel Core i5-4430 3.00GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail
Crucial RealSSD M4 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (CT128M4SSD2)
Gigabyte H87M-HD3 Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard
Patriot Viper "Black Mamba" Generation 3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (PV38G160C9K)
Xigmatek Pantheon Mid Tower Case - Black
OCZ CoreXtreme 500w '80 Plus' Power Supply
LG GH24NS95 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM
Sub Total : £399.07 ex VAT

This thing is almost black all over ;)

I'd say that about it £400 ex VAT (£500 inc), perhaps extra £25 won't make a significant difference ;)

That spec isn't bad.

I'd say try and squeeze 16GB of RAM in there, We do a fair bit of virtulisation at work and we sometimes hit our 32GB limit (only on a big assmeblies). I assume thats the sort of stuff you'll do..

Keep the i5, even that downclocked version will help you..

Have you looked at the ivybridge chips? May be a bit cheaper, the performance is near-as-makes-no-difference the same.

Cheapest i5 IVB vs HW (3330 vs 4430) is exactly the same for the money, the only price difference is the mobo side of things.

got NAS and other RAID networked backup server/PC so not really
Most of our current stuff is in the cloud anyway :)
