Here is the Story. Life is unfair, why don't I get any breaks please feel sorry for me...lol

On a serious note as like many other people out there in this economic situation. I am looking for work and currently bouncing from one temp jb to another. However I like many more dream of more.

I wish to provide an IT support service for small business and home users. My biggest obstacle is the sheer lack of funds I have. I intend to work from home but how do I get my name out there. I have started doing leaflet drops, use of facebook, twitter and my own website. I also set up e-mails I can send to local firms. I search out local firums and communities that I can help me getting my name out there.

I can afford to get posters and flyers done but advertising in Local press is a bit too expensive for me at the moment.

My wife is a Prim school teacher and I have managed to provide a few quotes to the ICT leader in her school that I hope will be taken up in September.

I am just looking for any more ideas out there to get my name across and get some business in.

I know there are a dime a dozen of people out there doing what I do but I would just like to give this a real big effort and see if it can take me anywhere.

All advice given will be greatly appreciated.

Look for as much free advertising as possible. Some newspapers do a small free advert for new businesses, others are dirt cheap.

Maybe put together small A5 packs you can send out to small businesses. Make sure it sets out exactly how you can help them and make it totally applicable to the problems they'd experience - how you can make their life easier. A list of prices will just be put in the bin. Make sure it's printed on high quality paper with professional designs. The small bit of extra spending makes your business look a lot more professional.

go and see your job centre and get them to send you to a sub contractor company who help with stuff like this (mine was a company called pertemps) they will pay for certain stuff like flyers and other things and give you help with a business plan, then go to your bank.

Put a card in local newagents windows? Cheap and easy to do. It might get a few sales. Drop flyers into peoples letterboxes. If you deliver them yourself then you'll only need the cost of printing the leaflets and that can be done yourself if on an absolute budget (but probably slightly better if printed properly).
