Bust laptop - need more advice

Basically my Dad's laptop is broken, and we want to retrieve some files (courtesy of a 2.5" > 3.5" adapter) from the drive.

But I remember something about having to take over accounts, in order to access the user's folders.

Anybody got any more details on this process?

unless the drive is encrypted it should be a simple copy and paste job
