Just a thought from my other thread, every time i go shopping i normally spend ten pounds altogether on:

350g Chicken Breast
500g Mince
5/6 Pork Chops

Would going to a butcher be cheaper or extra quantity?

Hurts to admit it but Tesco is probably fresher and cheaper than any high street butcher.

Well both asda and tesco do a 3 for £10 deal.....

When i go to the butchers for my sandwich sometimes, the meat looks a hell of a lot better but not sure on price

Fresher no, cheaper yes.

Any decent butcher should have links to the local farmers and slaughterhouses and get their meat directly from there, which avoids it having for it to go to a main warehouse and be distributed from there as with the supermarket chains.

TBF, where they are based is very close to the middle of nowhere, so I would expect to be locally sourced

Butcher I use is same price as the deli course at supermarkets but far superior in taste, helpfulness and what they have. But I wish I had my sisters local butcher, amazing deals and actually slightly cheaper than the normal supermarket range (not the value).

Your a lucky guy

I have just been to the biutchers this morning before work (7am) to pick up my weekend bacon supply.

18 rashers of thick cut back bacon with a maple syrup glaze.

Thats right people, this weekend my wife is going to EAT THE MEAT.

How much did that come too?

I bought some other stuff as well, got some nice beef, chilli and onion burgers, some pork sage and onion sausages, some small pork ribs a rabbit and some chicken thigh's.

Spent about £25 and put £5 into the xmas savers club for a hamper. :)

That does sound very cheap :)

I have found a local butcher that does a meat for the week deal for £10.99
You get:

6 sausages of your choice
10 rashers of bacon
2 chicken breasts
2 pork chops
500g steak mince
500g stewing steak
1kg joint of Gammon/pork etc

i have to say, it was worth every penny, all the meat was spot on. He is known to have decent quality as he is the supplier of a few local restaurants:

The turnpike, rishworth
the malt house, rishworth
1204, sowerby bridge

if anyone knows them
