I don't know where to start really :D

Well hear goes, old build was....

gigabyte x99 soc
5930k
g/skill ram
Maxwell titan x
All water cooled by 2 xspc rx 480
Housed in a phanteks Enthoo Primo

The build always suffered from cold boots, which I never sorted out (being to lazy)
The Enthoo Primo was ok at first, because it housed all the wc kit, then started to think about external rads.
So going to try a self build out of oak, glass, metal and maybe stone.
All to be work in prog.

New kit in my possession already
X570 AORUS XTREME (AMD AM4) DDR4 X570 Chipset EATX Motherboard
Team Group Edition 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C14 3200MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black
Ryzen 5 3600 Six Core 4.2GHz (Socket AM4) Processor
EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER XC ULTRA, OVERCLOCKED

The idea in my head is to build the case with the I/o up top with exhaust above it, some how hinge for easy access to I/o.
Cables come out of the back and hide behind the case.
Either side of the main case a rx 480, sort of look like external stereo cooling in push-pull @500 rpm

Why go for the 3600 given the other components and the CPU you're coming from?

Surely a 3700X or 3900X + would be more fitting given your motherboard costs best part of £700?

Saving for the Zen 3, then do the board justice. The sound quality on this board is massive to the x99 loving it.

Makes sense.

I've subbed to the thread, always loved the X570 XTREME, outstanding motherboard and in a class of it's own tbh.

Very happy so far with it. I have always cut costs in the past with mobo's this time I thought sod it I am havin it :D

Very much looking forward to zen 3 now just hope it delivers.

The engineering on the heat sinks, board Armor and back place are ace and being passive is what sold it to me.
Had a bad experience back in the amd 939 days with fan seizing up, nearly lost the full rig due to nearly catching fire.

Butchery is a reference to taking an angle grinder to the Enthoo Primo for parts.
Gaming on the r5 3600 so far seems to flow better and smoother.

Any news/photos?

Not much at the moment, Waiting for watercool heatkiller blocks for gpu and cpu.
Also a 200mm d5 glass res by watercool.
Still trying to get my head around best layout for the case.
Just ordered Phanteks Eclipse P400S and Cryorig H7 CPU Tower Cooler and just air cool, while building the case.

Genuinely surprised, I thought most people test built systems this way. Never had an issue.

I was a bit worried, as I had a stack of tools nearly to the ceiling next to it. If they had been knocked over they would destroyed it all :D

Looks great bud, bet you can't wait to toss a 4900X or something into it though!

Thanks Bud, yeh glad i just got 3600 for now, like you said gives me something to look forward to.

Plan for the scratch build keeps changing in head lol. Can not decide which way to mount the motherboard...

a/ mounted horizontal with i/o to the rear or
b/ mounted vertical with i/o to the top.

I also want to mount the motherboard on a 10mm piece of glass, so the back board is visible.
