Building a new raid 1 mirror in new machine based on contents of drive in the raid
HI,
I have two drives that were run as raid 1 mirrored in my old machine back in May this year. THey have crucial data on them. However, one was recently formatted and run as a OS drive to get my new machine up and running while the other drive still has all my crucial data. I`m now going to be putting them back together as a raid once I have reformatted the drive that was temporarily used as an OS drive.
My question is, in a new machine, can I create a new raid 1 mirror based on the contents of one of the drives in the raid, or will creating a new raid delete the contents of both drives? I know that if they were already in a raid and one was replaced I could have course select to "rebuild" the raid once a new drive was put in, but can I create a new raid 1 mirror based on the contents of one of the drives in the raid?
