Buy 4GB while its cheap??

im going to be buying a Core 2 DUO setup soon ,

E6600
Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3
and for memory 2 GB OCZ or Geil ( which will be better ?)

but i have been thinking , since memory is cheap at the moment ( are prices going to rise soon ?) should i go for 4GB ?? or maybe get 2GB and put the money towards a new Graphics card in the future?

most people seem to think its better to hold off since you dont really need more than 2gb for anything. That way you can buy something like 2x 2gb later on for the same price and have 6gb

Depends what OS you running, for Vista maybe 3 or 4 gigabytes of RAM might be an option. For XP stick to 2GBs it should run like a beast.

Lol 6GBs, if you've got a server or Mac Pro handy, I doubt the chipsets around at the moment support more then 4GB's.

im still using windows XP ( for now ) so i think i will just stick with 2GB

You can stuff 8GB quite nicely into HP workstations, don't know what Mobo they have tho...

btw there are non server/mac systems that support much much more than 8gb kicking about, high end machines yes but not classed as servers

Cool, what M/B did you get? Sorry am not update on Intel chipsets

No point in buying 4GB of DDR2 now as DDR3 is oly around the corner.

I would have bought something better then my OCZ pc6400 rev2 if DDR2 was going to be around a bit longer but it's not.
