Hello everyone,

I'm looking to buy a new 50/55 4k tv for my living room. Watching distance pretty close so will avoid everything over 55 inches.
I've found a couple of options for my budget (around £500) but now sure if it makes sense to wait for black friday for better deals.

My choices are:

HISENSE 55U7QFTUK
UE50TU8500
TCL roku tv

Should I wait or take one of these or other models that you can suggest?

Many thanks

In past years there has been a pretty consistent pattern. Desirable sets rise in price or hold steady in the 2-to-3 weeks before Black Friday so as to make the BF discounts look bigger. Then, 2-to-3 weeks after BF - presuming that there's stock available - the prices drop back to where they would have been without the BF blip.

The slide in prices (price erosion) continues to about 10 days or so before Christmas. This marks the watershed point at which it's too late to bring any more stock in to the UK before the Christmas shut down. At this point prices either hold firm or, in some cases, increase.

About a week or so after Christmas prices have tended to hit a low point. My guess is that it's around this time that the credit card bills start hitting the mats. Folk got paid early for Christmas, and it's a good six weeks before they'll next get paid again at the end of January, so money is tight.

This year it's anyone's guess. Covid and Brexit combine to change the rules of the game.

My gut instinct is that the Black Friday pattern is still in the minds of the product managers for each brand. They'll want to put on a decent show with stock availability. What's changed this year is the stock supply situation. Parts suppliers, factories, and transport are all feeling the effect of C19. There has to be some nervousness too about how much stock to bring in to the country when people are being laid off and shops forced to close.

Interesting analysis thanks. I've noticed how both shops like Amazon and Currys alreay have started Black friday sales in advance. Dunno the reason but maybe they don't want to ship a huge quantity of products in a couple of days considering the most orders will be done online this year. That's the reason why I though buying potentially now it is better than buying during the hectic days of the black friday/cyber monday whilist retaining interesting and competitives prices
