I am rebuilding most of my PC as my motherboard gave up so I'm replacing everything but my CPU (2600k), I have a 560TI and was going to upgrade to a 680 in a few weeks but should I wait for the next line of gpus? or wont they be out for a few more months?

If you'd buy the top drawer graphics card regardless of price get the 680 now, sell it and upgrade when something better comes along, you'll probably loose about £60-90 of it's value by then but it's not a bad upgrade price to reach the top line GPU again.

If the 680 is just being eyed as sufficiently better to warrant the upgrade and you wouldn't bounce up again you may want to wait as nearer the next line of GPU's their price will drop quite a bit.

edit: well spotted badboy, I'm a bit more laptop flavoured these days so it tends to be rather auto pilot :p

There is no date for the next iteration of GPU's but the 680 from MSI on offer here is a great price. If you have the 1GB 560TI and game at 1080P, you will not regret getting a 680 (at the offer price) however if you have the 2GB 560TI, it may pay to wait.

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI GeForce GTX 680 Twin Frozr 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £359.99
Total : £370.79 (includes shipping : £9.00).

I feel is a steal for a 680 :)

Thing is, I think for most folks dropping £350 on a graphics card is a bit excessive. I get decent pay (oracle DBA) but I'd be a bit reluctant to blow over 200ish on a new card. Everyone's version of a bargain is different though :D

I got the 1gb model and record when i play sometimes and I find i need something with more balls lol.

If there is no news on a release then I will pick up a 680 or do you think maybe a 670 or 660ti will do?

The 670 is so close to the 680 (5%-10% difference) I would be looking at one of those. Don't forget AMD though, as the 7950 is faster in most games than a 670 and the 7970 is faster in most games than a 680.

Both have pluses and minuses but the wise buy is the 7950.

Total : £240.79 (includes shipping : £9.00).

This card is getting rave reviews and I can understand why. It is cool and quiet and delivers performance well.

and for Nvidia:

1 x EVGA GeForce GTX 670 FTW 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £319.99
Total : £330.79 (includes shipping : £9.00).

Also a great card and EVGA have the best reputation for any RMA issues. As an Nvidia fan, I would be looking at that HIS 7950 (sorry to say fellow fans), purely on the price to performance.

Want this card so much, but in the last week or so it's price has been erratic at best, first I seen it started at £380, then went to £400, in a recent weekly offer it ran for a few days it went for £383.99, now it's at a staggering £419.99.

Can't believe the price difference in just a few months, surely that should have dropped.

Picked my used windforce 680 up for £300 and it had only been used for a week or two. I'd buy used now considering the series is around a year old, unless your adamant you need it new. Just make sure it has warranty and the seller is trusted.

The MSI card prices were really cheap in early December, so they must not have been selling all that well.

However, now everyone knows just how crazy powerful the 600 series in general is, the prices have been going up steadily.

The earlier cheaper prices were just to encourage buying, to get the products out there.

Which is a shame, as I would have forked out £380 for the card.

Now it's gone to £440 wow....... a £60 increase in less then a fortnight.

No point comparing offer prices with non offer prices!

Buy the cheapest reference card and stick a 3rd party cooler on it which will be better at cooling and quieter.
