Buy another 480?

Two 480 cards in SLI will pack a serious punch. It depends on heat though. If you don't mind a toasty setup then SLI will smash any games you throw at it

It would certainly be a good choice. Especially if you can find it for cheap.

The heat is a little problematic, but besides that you'll have a great setup. It'll certainly be cheaper than getting a new Highend GPU and would probably out perform most of them in some games.

i have been contemplating going SLI with my GTX 480, but from advice here i would need a new PSU aswell, that with the fact that im watercooled bumps the price up even more so i have decided to wait to see what the next gen Nvidia cards bring.
You however have an ample PSU.....and its still a tough decision but i would go for it, as long as your happy to take the hit when you come to sell them, they will last you quite a while and the newer stuff will also be out and cheaper by then.

Ive been thinking about this for a while, but I cant justify spending 2nd hand what I paid new for my 480.

So ill be selling my 480 when kepler comes out and buying a new offering from nvidia :)

Depends on res and games you are playing - if you are 1080p or higher and playing stuff like BF3, Crysis etc. I think that the 480 represents great VFM going into SLI - as long as you can (as mentioned) take the heat/noise that comes with it.

Currently playing at 2560x1440 and my 480 SLI setup is great for FPS :)

Second hand prices are looking like £200 though which is a lot of money for a 2nd hand card! Expecially when OCUK sold them for £210 when I got mine.

Although 480sli would be nice for when I play 3D, I think a mid-high range kepler would be an improvement.

Afaik second hand on the MM is about £160, so not sure where you are getting your prices from?

Ebay, starting bids are around £160 and ive seen them go to as much as £220.

Average seems to be £200 at end of auction.

edit: if only I ever saw them appear on the MM I would snap one up at £160!

£200 for a used GPU and a GTX 480.. No way I would pay that for a used old 480..

Id take a brand new GTX 560 ti 448 over an old used 480 anyday, or even the standard GTX 560 ti Brand new with warranty etc one for £140.

Unlocked 6950's are on a par with the GTX 480 and they have more ram, brand new for around £200.

The 480's are old, use to much power. give out to much heat.. I would sell it now especially if there are people willing to pay near £200 for it!

From my findings you need to have them at least this far apart for the cooling to work.

And a side intake fan right over them helps also.

With my 295s like that they were absolutely fine. There was only a 3c difference and both cards were well under 80c.
