Currently on the look out for a Jazz but i cannot seem to decide which one i should go for from either a dealer or a car supermarket:

The available car model appears to have some spray work done one of the doors according to the inspection sheet and is also the furthest :( Out of the three i like the grey & purple but not so keen on the black but it has the lowest mileage and the most amount of gadgets including parking sensors and sat nav. Really am liking the heated leather seats though.

Which option would you go for?

The Jazz is a great car but is due for replacement next year, so make sure you get at least the current facelift model when buying which should hold their value a bit better. The first model looks good, the EX is a decent spec and I wouldn't want to spend any more than £9k on a 3 year old Jazz. Some others that look like decent value:

Why does a 2011 Jazz cost £11k?!

It's the fully loaded version with leather seats and cruise control etc. The Jazz is many things but cheap isn't really one, especially when specced up. When new for example the satnav (which is crap compared to a £150 Tomtom) is a £1600 option.

Still - It's 2011 Jazz at £11k. Hard to justify the extra for toys over other Jazzes. I'd take a long hard look at whether to spend that on a Jazz, considering the various other superminis of equivalent age and mileage at around half the price or other, nicer cars at the same price.

Yeah I know but the wife prefers driving small cars and the current yaris is 3dr with a small boot. With a child on the way the jazz fits the bill perfectly with a big boot yet the wife can drive. Probably just end up buying a exl version above

Checked out the Nissan but having been a Honda fan for most of my driving career i will stick with Honda. Its also quite practical and i think i will be setting myself a budget around 8-9k.

Are you 60? Old people who can't drive seem to be the only jazz owners round here. As you selected MJA as an option you are also near Guildford, where the old people drive jazz's really slowly

No I'm not 60 but it seems to tick all the boxes in terms or size, economy and big enough for the wife to drive. I would have love to kept the evo 8 but with a baby along the way it wasn't very practical!

I thought the evo 8 would be more practical than a Jazz?

I find having my Audi A6 small for one child (I do lots on long journeys), I honestly don't know how anyone with a super mini copes!

I thought the Note was more practical than the Jazz (with its sliding seats, and its cheaper too).

Most cars in this range have a pretty dull image, so does it really matter if its a Honda or a Nissan?

Also, I would only buy from a dealer, 8k is still a lot of money, and I like the service unlike a car supermarket. I also have a Qashqai, which was purchased from dealer and always serviced at the dealer, it not expensive to run and I am very happy with the customer service (better than Audi!)

Evo wasn't exactly more practical as the ride was harder and noisier. Also i dont think the other half would have every driven the car. To be honest im not too bothered about the Jazz image as i actually like the car :) im currently rocking about in a 3rd Yaris.

I'd kill myself swapping an evo for a jazz, It's hardly a family car if that's your reasoning. The evo would fit a buggy better I would have thought. Get a qashqai, that's our family car and it's alright

I had a Jazz as a discourtesy car while my S2000 was being serviced. I thought it was a fantastic little car. Plenty of go and it was like the Tardis once you get inside. The interior feels massive compared to what you would expect looking at it from the outside.

However I find it hard to speak of them without wanting to say "Nice!" in the voice of Louis Balfour.
