Hi Folks,

Im in a bit of a flummox.

A friend of mine has offered me his old msi gtx 760 for £80 - this is for our lasses pc so she can play warcraft.

Question is, for 80 quid do i buy this or is there a better alternative grunt wise for 80 quid.

I'm not overly au fait with GPU specs.

To add it does not need to be Nvidia,

You could probably get a second hand 670/680/770 for that price off a stranger. Personally I'd tell the friend no thanks and look elsewhere.

hmm, a cursory look and can't see any 670's for much less than £100
there are some 760's that look like they might be going about £60 though, so you could use that as leverage maybe

what make/model of 760 is it?

there are some 7950's going for about £80 but they are only about the same speed as a 760 according to Anand's charts

I think that is a fair price and would happily pay it to keep the Mrs happy. In my house, if the wife is happy, I am allowed to be happy :D

I've seen Amd 7970's go for £80-90 on the bay. Keep an eye on the B grade section at Overclockers.Co.uk as I bagged 7970 6 months ago for £110, you will see some good deals from time to time.

Another advantage of getting it off a mate is it's history, Does he overclock, overvolt, Has it had a hard life?

The thing that bothers me about buying secondhand from a stranger is not knowing how it was used.
So it may be 10 or 20 quid less elsewhere but if you know it's had an easy life what's that peace of mind worth? Plus you can show the other prices and play the friend card for a discount :)

So we are about on th emoney for the card. He doesnt do GPU overclocking so i'm not worrie dthere.

Thanks for the advice folks.

Too much IMO, especially from a "friend".

I recently sold a faster 670 for less than that on the MM.
