The TV in my partner's lounge died just before christmas. I told him just to take mine from my room as I barely watch it. The issue is that at 42inch it's not really cutting it.
I'm tempted to get the LG 55UH850V for £899 + free 5year warranty from the spicey food shop.
If anyone that follows pricing trends from CES year in and year out know if anything coming out soon (in first 6months) would be equivalent in pricing, spec and LG*?

I would love to justify to be able to spend more on something like OLED but sadly even this one is down to a good offer, i think. And it appears online every TV has some sort of fault to report.

*we like the simplink audio feature for the all in one lazy surroundsound. And as a further note I'd like to try and keep 3D which this TV offers.

Rather than focus on OLED, you want to look at HDR capable TVs.

While 4K at some viewing distances isn't that much of a noticeable improvement, HDR is the added feature that's going to give you that "new tele was worth it" type feeling regardless of size or distance.

The only thing with HDR is that there's a a bunch of competing specifications at the moment. So although a TV is HDR capable it might not match the spec of the device you're using it with. I have to admit at not being too clued up on what spec is currently leading the way because I'm really waiting for them to pull their thumbs out and decide on one.

Anyway, 55UH850V looks like a cracking TV and supports Dolby Vision and HDR10 which, as far as I'm aware, are the two that matter at the moment. Might even be tempted myself...
