Hi guys,
This is a first post, and a first build, so be gentle :)

Was in Japan recently and saw a Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Intel X58 for a great price, bought it and realised I now have to build my first gaming Rig!

I have looked at a few specs and I suppose what Im going to try and do is get a good case, mobo and psu, so I will get away with lesser ugrades later on. Building it will be a big enough challenge for me first off, so Overclocking is something I will look into later.

What do you think of the following:
Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz (Nehalem)(Socket LGA1366)
£250.99 (£218.25)
- No Questions; decided!

EVGA GeForce GTX 260 "Core 216 55nm" 896MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)(896-P3-1255-AR)
£177.09(£153.99)
- I like Nvida, there are a lot of 260 options that are pretty similar, any one model stand out above the rest, I may get another later down the line.

Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 750W ATX2.2 Modular SLi Compliant Power Supply £120.99(£105.21)
- Will it be able to handle if I get another 260, and aftermarket CPU cooler for overclocking later (or should I get Noctuna now?)?

OCZ Gold 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 2000MHz PC3-16000C10 Low-Voltage Triple Channel (OCZ3G2000LV6GK)
£104.98(£91.29)
- Think these should do the trick nicely.

Antec 900-2 Nine Hundred Two Ultimate Gaming Case - Black (No PSU) £102.99(£89.56)
- Very hyped case, not sure I want something that bright!, any other case that are similar (fans, cooling, cable management) but a bit more understated?!

OCZ Solid Series 30GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive (OCZSSD2-1SLD30G)
£91.99(£79.99)
- Is it worth it getting the SSD? Any headaches or limitations from normal setup?

Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (WD6401AALS)
£59.98(£52.16)
- Get second one of these instead of SSD?

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-Bit - OEM (66I-01939) £91.99(£79.99)
- Has to be done I suppose..

Logitech X-540 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System (970223-0120) £66.69(£57.99)
- Im ok with a decent sound system for now, these seem fine.

Samsung SH-S223Q/RSMN 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer Lightscribe ReWriter (Beige/Black/Silver) - Retail
£22.99(£19.99)
- Seems fine.

Total £948 / £1100 inc tax.

Need a decent monitor suggestion, 20-22", £100-£200 max.... any other specs on a UD5, or suggestions would be really apreciated,

Budget is £1000 - £1500, the lower the better!

Thanks in advance for relpies... and this money has to be spent before my wife gets back :D

Hi and welcome to forum

The PSU will be fine, Id recomend getting the CPU cooler now, it will make your system quieter as well as cooler. Re case a lot of people are recomending the Silverstone fortress, so have a look at that, think its quite similar to the 902 in terms of cooling/cable management but is more understated, whilst slightly more expensive circa £140. The SSD, if you want to go for one of these Id recomend stretching to a 60gig one, as 30 gig will get eaten up very quickly, whether you want to spend that much or not is up to you, as you say it may be worth just sticking with a couple of WDs in RAID0
Monitor wise Id look at something like this for 22", but if you have the space for a 24" then get one of them, theres a few around the £200 mark.
Going back to your gfx card, no theres not much difference between the models, except some are clocked higher, personally if getting a 260 Id get this one, its clocked higher and is cheaper than the one you linked
These are only minor tweaks though and its a pretty nice set up youve specced there, enjoy

Thanks for the reply,
Its good to know about the PSU, I had a friend tell me I absolutely had to get a 850W or 1000W for what I have in mind!
Think maybe I'll go with Dual WS's, it will help pay for the Noctura cooler.
Re the screen thought that maybe a 260 would struggle to play games on high settings on the bigger screen?? Don't know feel free to educate me :)

Any more specs welcome, Im off to check out the Case's threads, and to check some reviews.
