Am going to be buying a 1060 for 1080p gaming on a 24" screen, will buying the 6gb version make much difference to me or should I stick with the 3gb, budget is tight.

Forget 3GB, pay the £30 extra for the 6GB.

6GB has more cores so you're getting more than extra vram.

The 3gb version is not really a 1060, only in name.

Go for the 6gb version as it is faster and you won't run out of memory with some of the newer games.

Forza and tomb raider are a few of the latest games where 3Gb tanks in performance with max texture settings. If you want to compromise on IQ then get the 3GB.

You don't want 3GB on a new card coming up to 2017. Pay the extra! That £30 saving is fool's gold and you'll regret it almost instantly.

Certainly 4GB is "enough" for 1080p at the moment. There are only a handful of games that use more than that, and even then only with ultra-high texture settings designed for 4K, where you won't even notice the difference by dropping down a notch at 1080p. Having had a 780 until recently and having used 4GB cards since then, the difference between 3GB and 4GB is night and day in terms of the number of games where you need to compromise. More VRAM is always better of course, but if you can find a good deal on a 4GB 480, it's certainly a much better option than the 3GB 1060.
