Hey all, currently looking into buying a 360, but not sure what to go for I am thinking 20GB should be enough, and will be because of my budget at the moment.

However I am unsure if I should buy new or second hand, second hand is tempting as I can get a 20GB Version for £150, however I do not want to buy a brick so want to find out if this is advisable or not?

Also do I want to be buying a "Premium" or a "Pro?"

Thanks!

TY, I will have to take a look around to see where I can get it for the best price, but if I can find it for £170 I am quite happy :) Already got Halo 3 + Lost Oddysee for it, just need the console and a VGA lead now :D

I think the new 60GB 360 is coming out mid-end of September
I would wait till september and go for one of them.
With the new dash upgrade you can install games to the h/drive.
So the bigger h/drive is going to be worth it.

That's the thing, I was going to wait, but I keep hearing different dates for the 60gb release, some say August, some say December, and I dont want to wait till christmas to get gaming.

The new 60gig is being released in august.

Microsoft has released more information on the previously-announced 60GB edition of the Xbox 360 console, which will retail at the same price point as the phased-out 20GB edition - GBP 199.99.

The new console SKU will be available in the UK from August 15 and will complement the entry-point GBP 159.99 Arcade SKU - which doesn't have a hard drive but instead ships with a 256MB memory card - and the GBP 259.99 Elite SKU, which features a 120GB hard drive.

as Ian says, wait till Friday and get a 60Gb one ;)
I've seen them for 179.99 on Pre-order :D
Although I can't believe Microsoft arent releasing this with the Jasper chip-set (bit of a FAIL by my reckoning )

What is the Jasper Chip-Set? I supose £180 is not to bad either, if I get £50 worth of games I am sorted for about 5 games and a 60gb 360 at £230ish :D

Jasper model is a die shrink of the current GPU which is prone to premature death/overheating etc.

Hehe np at all, was kidding around with that post really :) You probably did the better way anyhow as I didn't cater for people who have links blocked at work.

Right, Before I hit pre-order on this 60GB 360 @ £180, how likely is it that it will RROD on me? The release of this is quite exciting as it saves me £70 off the Elite, but still gives me 3x more HDD space than the normal Pro :D

:(This does put me off buying it, I could upgrade my PC instead.... But most of the games I want to play are out on the 360.... But I do not want to waste £180

i wouldnt worry about it TBH

as above ^ you get 3 years cover for the 3RROD

i bought my 360 in may '06, got the 3RROD about this time last year, took about 7 days to be repaired, it's been going strong ever since

That is quite fast then, I thought it would be about a month :O I do want it, I must admit. Granted I mostly play GH on the PS2, and I can get World Tour and Rock Band for that but it would be cool to have them on a next gen console and there are loads of games I fancy playing on the 360 to boot.

I will be paying about £250, but thats for a console + 7 games so quite good realy :D

My only problem now is the 60GB 360 is £180 pre order, but I am not in the delivery address untill Sunday, so that is a bit of a problem and I am unsure if it will remain at £180 after it is released...

I'm looking to buy one too. When the say " Pre-order. Due for release on 15/08/2008" do they mean that by pre-ordering it would be delivered on the 15th or dispatched on the 15th?
