Im thinking of buying a bundle to upgrade my pc abit.. im just wondering are there any specific components that i will need to know about? Like ive got a 500w power supply currently would i be needing to change that too ? Or could i find a bundle to work with that ?

You need to list all your parts.

• Motherboard make+model will be printed on it arounmd the expansion slots.
• PSU will have a label on the side again with make+model
• Are all your drives SATA type? what drives do you have (old sandforce controllers dont like modern chipsets)

Once i get back home later on i will find out what your asking for and post a reply.

Is there a quick way i can find all the information about my pc components ? Or will i have to manually check for everything ?

GPU-Z is a program that should identify your GFX card.
CPU-Z will identify the CPU and also motherboard and possibly RAM on different tabs.
PSU you will need to look
CASE well you either know what it is when you bought it or post a picture of it.
Drives, err best to just look, the main thing is that they dont use the old IDE connectors (fat wide ribbon cables)

The PSU you'll need to check manually as Stu said.

For the rest, you can use BelArc Advisor: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

Take a snapshot of the results, from Operating System to Display. It will show the drives too.

And you might need CPU-Z and take a snapshot of the Memory section: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

Then post the pics here.

Just saw Stu added a post before this one. Try what he said first, and only use Belarc if some info is still needed.

My PSU Model Number - rs-500-psap-js

And the drives, the connectors are all seperate wires not the old ribbon ones like you said stu

To make it easy:

Cooler master 500w PSU
Sandy Bridge i5-2400 (3.1Ghz)
Gigabyte Z77 motherboard
8GB memory, running at 800mhz. Possibly on the slow side?

Generally the advice given is Overclock the *bleep* out of this, and you're fine for a year or two more, possibly upgrade just the GPU (Given the PSU, avoid the highest power consuming ones)

Is there anything in particular your current system doesn't do as you want it to?

You could get a GTX 970, which has a barely, but lower tdp than your current card. (Source: 3dmark) so should not cause an issue with your PSU.

Every chance the card would be cpu limited, which many here would suggest to solve by overclocking.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Zotac GeForce GTX 970 Gaming Edition 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (ZT-90101-10P) £265.99
1 x MSI Radeon R9 290 Gaming Edition 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £214.99
1 x KFA2 GeForce GTX 780 3072MB PCI-Express Graphics Card - OEM (78XNH5DN9IST) £193.99
1 x Powercolor Radeon R9 280 TurboDUO 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £155.99
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £53.99
Total : £894.55 (includes shipping : £8.00).

You do need a new PSU as,

• yours is not even 80plus rated which is the lowest certificate for efficiency.
• weak, only puts out 420W and 18/18A on the 12v rail with a max load of 312w on the 12v rail.
