There is a domain name that I want to buy, it has no website attached to it but it is registered to another company. When I do a whois lookup it says "Registered And No Website" but the expiry is October 08. How do I go about buying it, when I go through Register1 for example it says the domain is not available.

The domain will drop shortly - keep a close eye on it but be prepared to be beaten by people running automated dropcatching. There are plenty of sites who will attempt to 'catch' this domain for you for a fee.

Good luck :).

If you desperately want this domain (and are prepared for a hefty premium) use one of the services listed here.

If you are less bothered, but still prepared to pay a little extra, go to the current registrar and try from there - often they will hold on for a few extar days if they think the domain will sell quickly.

If you want to be prudent, and don't mind risking losing the domain, just wait a little longer. In this case, don't query the domain via the current registrar or any other registrar that you don't trust. These searches will be a sign of interest and thus might make it harder.

As one of the articles says, sometimes registraras hold on for longer if they think the domain will be snapped up (which they really shouldnt do).

Or possibly it's a mistake; the domain could have been dropped or even renewed but the systems haven't been updated (but that shouldn't happen either).

Unfortunately, by challenging them, you are drawing attention to the fact that you want that domain.
