Got a few trips to the US on the cards next year and was wondering with the pound so strong if it'd be cheaper to buy a new guitar over there and have it couriered back home than buying one here?

Ideally I'm after a Gibson SG, just the standard affair, which run to about £900 all in over here.

I'd imagine it would be cheaper to carry it with you as part of your luggage... even if you have to pay for any excess baggage. Plus I'd imagine the airline baggage handlers are slightly less likely to play football with it in transit than Fed Express would.

I'm not too fussed on the whole transporting it back thing as I can sort that out later, but are they likely to be cheaper to buy over there?
