Buying a Mac soon? Maybe get some free stuff with it.

I've found that the best way to get free stuff with a Mac Book is to go to somewhere like Robert Sayles. All of there staff are always quite eger (spelling mistake I think) to sell you what you came in for, obviously, and if yuo tend to be a bit un-sure if you want to buy the product or not then they normally say "Oh, I just remebered that this month, if you buy product x then we will throw in a mouse" or something like that. It does mean spending about 2 hours in there and listening to them giving you the sales talk but last time I did it I managed to get about 75 pounds worth of free stuff from them (a keyboard, a pretty nice logitech wireless mouse and a case).

I like being a cheapskate :D

I very much doubt that Apple would follow up any order to that extent explained in the link.

I've gone 90% on a few orders (one including a tricked out Mac Pro for my recording studio) and no one ever rung me back

They did follow up on the order though. The point is getting someone here to do this and figure out what makes them call you. Is it a certain cost? A certain level through the order? Because it was completely canceled and they don't want to lose the sale?

The way I see it is that the order was processed but the card got declined - so perhaps thats why they got called up because effectively the person literally stopped at payment...

Best way to replicate it I guess would be entering all your card details but just changing one part of the card number or something. That would cause the card to be declined...

I doubt Apple could tell why the card has been declined (in the article it was because it was a large purchase on a new card; my scenerio is just wrongly inputted payment details).

Only way I legitimately think Apple would bother to chase such orders...

ps3ud0

Maybe that's it? Just getting the credit card details wrong. However when they called up, they asked me why I'd cancelled. I had to explain why after they offered the bag. Be great if someone could try it next time they order.

same thing happened to my wife. She just left the goods in the basket ( no declined card etc) and a guy from apple phoned up to see why she hadn't purchased yet. in the end she got a free upgrade on the HDD and a case. I think she saved about 50 quid in all.

Seriously guys...

I can understand blagging a couple of hundred, but doing that for £50 and some freebies is a bit pointless IMO :o

You could easily blag the same stuff from a premium reseller by asking if you could "do some sort of deal".. I've done it myself.
