Buying a new car questions

So Ive started the process of buying my first new car. I have a few questions though.

I will be exporting it out the country within a few days but while I'm in the UK it needs road tax but I only want to insure it with a temporary UK insurance for say 2 weeks until it's back in Germany.

I've read conflicting information on if it's fine to tax it with temp insurance?

Is road tax paid on top of the price of the car or is it included normally?

Is it possible for me to return the tax disc to the uk for a refund once it's not needed in germany and get say my mother to manage refund?

ye i think the first years road tax is always included i may be wrong, call the dealer and ask if it comes with tax?
ps why buy right hand drive for a left hand drive country?

I've dropped them an email so just waiting for response. Buying RHD as get tax free and may move back to the UK with it anytime

Another question is what sort of APR is considered really bad on a new car?
 
If you already have car insurance you could get it added onto our policy for 2 those weeks, most insurance companies are willing to do that, although obviously there will be a charge.
 
Is that dealer finance you're taking? I strongly suggest you read the agreement about taking the car abroad if it's under dealer finance.
 
Just heard back and don't need tax as long as it's out of country within 60 days which is good. Think changing my insurance over from Germany or getting it transported here may be a cheaper option.

Thanks for concern but it is through a company that specialises is tax free military car sales. I just don't want to had by them.

Can't you get temporary plates or something?

Also - what are you getting? Fed up with the 318Ci?

Yea found out it won't need Road tax as long as I leave within 60 days. Will get properly registered here and then reqistered again on a different British reg in germany. Bit of a weird process but the old reg is saved for when it returns to UK.

Yea although I really like the E46 It's far too slow and starting to show it's age pretty bad now. Also wife wants a auto being a yank so makes sense to try take advantage of the savings available while serving out here. Shouldn't really lose any money if I sell after a year. Hopefully getting a well specced petrol octavia vrs dsg.
