Buying a new CPU

My system setup is as follows:
Asus M2N32-SLi Motherboard
AMD 6400+ Black Edition 3.2ghz(Refunded reason why im buying a new CPU)
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 Ultra 768 mb
4GB Ram

I was wondering what CPU you could recommend for my motherboard was currently using a 6400+ but it was refunded and im looking to buy a new AMD processor thanks a lot Rabbie.

Well, that is AMD's fastest dual core, so i would assume that an upgrade would be to a Phenom X4 assuming your mobo can take them.
 
yes it can take the phenoms with a bios update m8 what phenom should you reckon i should buy was thinking of the 2.6ghz one m8
 
yeah the 2.6 is their highest model, and its within your budget. Depending on mobo, they can clock to 3Ghz. OR if you want to save some money, in the clearance section there is the step down (the 2.5Ghz) OEM for 81 quid. A total bargain if you ask me. Remeber this wont come with a heatsink though.
 
ok thanks a lot m8 if i do get a phenom and put it on my mobo will the pc start alright if it needs an update for the bios atm?
 
Lol i had assumed he had checked. My M2N Sli deluxe supports it. This obviously means you'll have to go for the 9850.
