I am after a 530d sport auto

has anyone ever considered pretending to be a motor dealer and calling up their local main dealer and asking them to contact them about any part exs on a particular vehicle?
I was wondering if I could call up my local dealer and pretend that I was looking out for a 530d for a customer and that if they got any part exchanged that are too many miles and too old for the used programme to lmk

do you think thats possible?

Haha, that won't work.

Dealers only circulate trade cars within a trusted circle.

We get loads of people trying to get into the circle, often the way to get in is to pay a fortune for a car that's not worth a fortune and that gets our attention.

When the sales person structures the deal they will ring this trader for a price, so once he's given them a price he's bought it.

So most Pxs are sold before they come in.

Rubbish. I know people who have bought cars at trade price as a trade sale from garages. Obviously they get no warranty or anything. But some dealers just want rid of part exchanges, especially if it doesnt match their forecourts image.

Why don't you just phone up your dealer and ask them about it? They will just stick older 530d's with high mileage out at auctions otherwise.

True, but I doubt these are reputable main dealers.

A friend of mine has recently picked up a mint e38 7 series from a main BMW dealer , £3k for a T reg 740i with full BMW S/H but, 240k miles under its wheels.

All he did was ask the dealer to look out for an e38 7 series, this car had just been offered in part ex against a new 730d, its mileage was putting off the trade and the dealer was more than happy to off load it for a song.

If you don't ask........

I have tried to get them to sell me one but they say BMW stop them doing so,, I can't think of the words to say tbh.

I told them I was after a 528i/530i, 330i or A4 3.0 and they called up saying they'd had an Audi A4 1.8T on an 02 plate in for with 63k which I could take on trade terms for £7244.

I've got a decent German motor thanks. The Audi was 'nice' but nothing about it stood out as being anything other than simply 'nice'.

Also why did you tell the Volvo Garage, did you tell any other garages?

These kind of cars often end up at auction. Ive brought one incidentally that way ( I was there for the fleet sales of repmobiles) and it was a real deal, unwanted just because that car model was discontinued otherwise it was A1

Stratstone have a huge network of dealers, including BMW dealers (I got my car from the one in Taplow).
