Hey guys i would like to buy a PC from OCUK on a finance for about £1.5k. I know a lot of people are gainst finance but there is just no other way for me right now. Anyways i wanted to know how everything works, i have a credit and a debit card is there a difference which one i use? Also my credit score might not be the best cause i only got my credit card only a few weeks ago, so that might be a problem.

Well i would start posting in the customer service section, rather than an open forum.

I would also reconsider your priorities and budget as you have said your credit score is not great, cant afford to buy it outright but believe a 1.5k PC is a reasonable purchase.

I would also post in the general hardware section for a spec because the chances are, you dont know what spec you need, you just think you do but you will be able to tons of things with a budget of just 60% of the 1.5k you want to spend.

If you post what you want to use it for, what resolution screen you play games at and what you play, i can post you a spec that will do all that at a fraction of the cost of your 1.5k.

Sounds like the last thing you should be doing then, because if you default on a single payment you will be screwed.

I'd rather save up and buy each bit separately than be in debt for 1-2 years over a computer.

Yeah thats the best idea

Or just get the bare essentials on finance and keep it cheap as possible, b grades etc then pay it off and upgrade when you can

Well im kinda new here and wanted a quick response. My priorities and budget is fine i just cant afford to splash away 1.5k in one go since i own a small business which is kinda new and im not making a lot of money yet, but i can afford to spend £50- £60 a month, thats why i need finance. I want a gaming rig that is able to play new games like BF1 in 1080/1440p 60fps on ultra. So if you can post a spec please do, would be a big help. Also i was looking at the configutator pc's, dunno if they are worth the money. Thanks.

Ultimately it's up to you but I'm again in the mindset of only buying things on credit if it's manageable/sustainable.

Take, for example, your small business that isn't making a lot of money and your budget of 50-60 a month. All it'll take is one customer to not pay you in time/mess you about to cause issues.

The problem with credit is that if you make one missed payment or default, it can cause a whole load of issues further down the line.

Just set up a new business, cant afford to outright pay for a machine now. Having a gaming PC to play BF1 is a priority??

OP you really need to consider your priorities.

Unless your business revolves around you playing BF1 dropping £1.5k on a gaming rig is not a priority. Focus on the business, and if you really must game then there are plenty of cheaper ways to do it until you can actually afford £1.5k. £50-£60 per month on finance doesn't remove the fact you have borrowed £1.5k + interest.

I would imagine having a new business you may have to pump money back in to it, after getting finance that £50-£60 per month would have to go to the finance company otherwise you will default, and this could put more strain on the business. 20% of businesses fail in the first year and 50% in the first 3.

TL:DR a £1,5k gaming rig is not a priority. Don't buy one on finance.

For Finance speak to CS..

For a Rig spec post in the correct forum like here

I guess you are young if only just got your first credit card.

I know the advice on here may not sound "cool" but it is true.

If you truely are starting a business you wish to live off as your primary income, £1.5k can be put to much better uses. It is best to keep that line of credit "open" for if you need to grow for example. £60 a month could get you a sizeable loan in 6 months time if you need a new vehicle, equipment, Office even.

A business sometimes needs to grow BEFORE it makes profit.

Also, I am not judging but if starting a business from scratch, how do you have time for gaming :p

boring response:

if you have no other way to buy it, why are you buying it at all?

This. Without wanting to talk OcUK out of sales, I believe there is a responsibility to not take cash off customers who can't afford it. If you really need a new computer, why not go for an £800 one rather than £1.5k? I'd love a rig that can play everything on ultra too but I don't have £1.5k... If you can't afford that then you shouldn't really be buying a computer.

If you send in a pre-sales webnote (or start thread here) with your requirements they will tell you what you need. 1.5k is quite high end, if you're only looking for 60fps 1080p you will be okay for much less. VR and 4K is what's putting the hurt on your wallet these days :)

Also, not to put a downer on it, but it may be difficult to get accepted on Finance running a new small business, might be fine but just wanted to point it out. Is there any introductory rate on your credit card? Balance transfer deals generally come with better credit ratings but you might want to look into that too.

Alright suddenly everyone is a business expert and everyone makes finance sound like a suicide mission. Thanks for the "advice" guys. Mods if you see this just delete this thread. This was a huge mistake. Bye.

GD is what it is, thank god you didn't say you rent or wanted to buy a corsa on finance!

I'd recommend starting a thread on General Hardware about your requirements - you'll get some solid advice on the best parts to build what you need there.
