where would I stand regarding warranty if I was to buy a PS3 from ebay?

The warranty is for the console, rather than the buyer.

So as long as it is a UK console and still under it's original warranty, you should be ok. A receipt may also be necessary.

Indeed matey, but as been said don't buy a console originating from another country as your warranty will be with worth zilch.

I registered my PS3 on the Sony UK site, it asks you when you purchased it serial etc. If the PS3 has not been registered on this site it may help with any warranty problems but im not 100% sure. Cant hurt though.

do you need to have the original receipt for the warranty ? I've just been offered a cracking deal but the bloke don't have the receipt as it was a present its a UK console and the warranty card is included with all the paperwork?

Anyone know?

You should be able to sort Warranty out with Sony anyway.
