Buying a PS4 while in the US

Hopefully someone can confirm or correct my understanding here

1. PS4 is region free except for DLC. So if I buy one in the US and connect only in UK it should work exactly as if bought here
2. PS4 uses a standard figure 8 controller. I could just use one from the UK

Obviously I may face warranty issues and it may be a good idea to bring it back without the box and with a UK power cable

Any thoughts?

The connection may be the same but I highly doubt it will be able to accept both 120v and 240v... You'll need a transformer! Not worth it at all.

It's not really any hassle. I am there for two weeks on business and for an equivalent price of about £240 it's tempting. Also further reading suggests I am allowed an individual item up to a value of £390 duty free so I can bring all the packaging.

Yes it is a gamble on the warranty though

People still make this assumption, but it makes no sense from a financial perspective for companies to be making multiple units when they can just use universal power supplies.

The PS4 just like the PS3 has an internal universal power supply that is rated to accept inputs of 100-250v.

It won't be able to play Region B Blu-rays.

£240 is a nice price but for the sake of £60 (or less, considering some of the deals that have been going around) I'd rather have one with a warranty. If you want one cheap take a look at the refurb/damaged box models that pop up from well-known retailers on eBay and the like, you get a full warranty and they're usually pristine but you can save yourself a bit of money.
