* 15.4" WUSXGA colour TFT LCD (1920 * 1200) massive resolution
* 1.5 GB of DDR333 memory, max is 2 GB
* 80 GB ATA/100 hard disc drive
* DVD-RW Drive, think it is dual layer
* ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 Turbo 128Mb
* 10/100 LAN

both for about 650-700 euro

which is the better buy :)

Fly the flag and buy the Dell. If nothing else, it's still under warranty and you know you can get spares and maintenance easily from Dell.

You don't mention the hard drive on the Turion based machine, if it is of comparable size I'd probably be tempted by it, partly because I prefer AMD CPUs, partly because it is A64 and partly because it is newer so consumables such as battery may be fresher. I think the graphics on it may be a shade faster as well but I'm far from certain on that point. That said the Dell has more Ram, parts may be more easily available(although how much of a benefit this is in not certain) and may have a better screen although that isn't mentioned either :)

Thinking of buying a Fujitsu Amilo 1650g, yeay or nay?

http://www.fujitsu-siemens.co.uk/products/mobile/notebooks/amilo_a_1650.html

Seems like a good spec for the price, i will add an extra half gig of ram

be mainly used for surfing and office based apps etc

any reason not to buy it?

Spec:
md 64 Truion Ml-32 1.8 L2512KB
15.4" widescreen
512mb ddr ram
Win XP pro sp2
4 in card read
Wireless lan
Nec DVD rw +- dual layer
Ati radeon xpreess 200

Is that 1.8 amd chip okay? what pentium does it compare to?
