Hi guys, im buying a 2009 scirocco from an independant garage. I have done a free check with http://www.checkthisreg.com/ and its coming back as...

Make
VOLKSWAGEN
Model
SCIROCCO GT TDI DSG
Transmission & fuel type
UNKNOWN
Body Type
2 DOOR COUPE
Colour
UNKNOWN

The problem is the car is actually a Volkswagen scirocco GT 170 MANUAL DIESEL and its WHITE.

Now i have told the dealer about this and he said yeah he only just realised that (only just received the car today) and he said that what has happened is that the car was originally purchased and registed in the UK (he has the origional VW purchase form of total price etc etc). But the person who bought it was in the armed forces and lived in germany so had to register it out there when he was living there. Only today it is being registered back into this country.

He said this is no problem as this has happened before and that he will sort it out with the DVLA and register the correct details...

Thing is im looking at a V5c form for my current car and where it says to modify the details of the car (section 7) there is no mention of modifying transmission type, model type, fuel type. Only colour. So how is he going to do it.

Thing is this car is 220 miles away from me so its not as if i can pop up and sort it out, i need to sort this out before i go up there. And with xmas approaching and then going into the new year and with me going on holidays 1st january. This is the only opportunity to sort this out.

Any ideas guys? anyone come across a problem like this with details not being correct?

And does the HPI check directly reference the DVLA V5c form. If thats the case the V5c form the dealership have must be incorrect. I will phone him up again tomorrow but would appreciate some advice from you guys.

Cheers!

Yeah thats what I am thinking he must have had some special deal.

Mjt... do you seriously think i would buy a car of this value without even test driving it?

I have test driven this model before, its the car i want.

It's just the car is at a very good price in my opinion, i dont want to drive 220miles up there, 220miles back to sort out something simple over the phone. Just wondering if anyone had any experiences with cars having the wrong details registered on the HPI check and how easy was it to correct the details.

The story of the dealer does add up as the car was previously registered to a MR so and so... and his address is at barracks in portsmouth. So the story of him registering it in germany must have some truth in it.

When im happy with everything i will be driving up there, giving it a thorough going over and a nice long test drive, and with a bit of luck driving it home with a nice big grin.

But if anyone has had similar experiences please reply! thanks!
