Eric's collar

Well I bought a hsf on a popular auction site and I was wondering is it generally ok tio buy these secondhand? The buyer has good feedback and sells pc components from time to time so he must be slightly competent. The item has a good chunk of it's warranty left and from the pictures it seems fine. Are there any things I should check for when it arrives apart from it working obviously?:p

There shouldn't be any trouble with buying them second hand to be honest, there isn't exactly a lot to go wrong with them. If the seller has good feedback and you have nothing to think its dodgy why not. Things I would look out for is working fans, no bent fins on the hsf and the heatsink itself isn't bent out of shape.

should be fine as Greboth stated, although you shouldn't worry about a few bent fins, and fans can ( usually ) easily be replaced if they dont work or etc etc :)

I'd look for bent fins and possibly any damage to the heat pipes, but they tend to be a solid component there shouldn't be anything wrong :)
