buying an xbox 360

i really want to get a xbox360 for the release of gta4, but im having a few doubts with which package i should get.
now the thing ive got in my head is, the new arcade consoles are the newer version of the console right? so a lot less likely to get any problems with it like the ring of death etc? but i see these deals for a premium system for only a few quid extra but im REALLy worried about getting one of the old systems and having problems with it in the future.
anyoen any thoughts?
 
Don't assume that the new models have all of the reliability problems fixed because as far as I am aware, while they might be better, they still aren't as reliable as they should be.
 
I bought an Arcade today because I already had the HDD from my previous Xbox but the best value without a doubt was the Premium/Pro bundles.
 
thanks for the replies, so theyre still not all that reliable then? or is it where you keep it, use it, luck of the draw?
ive seen the gta deal with the premium console and that looks a stunning deal.
 
Whatever one you buy just look at the white label on the side of the box when he passes it to you. You want the 175w one as that is the newer version.
 
Getting the 360 with GTAIV for only £189.99 then a 12 year gold sub from ebay for around £25, you're set for life holmes
