Hey all,

Thinking of getting the family apple watches for christmas, but am wondering how they work in relation to their network prodivers.

They're on a mix of GiffGaff and 3, so would they need to take an additional monthly paid plan to use the Apple Watch?

Anything else to consider?

I'm with EE and just got mine through add to plan so unsure how it works when buying an Apple Watch on it's own!

Cheers :D

Buy the non cellular versions, as long as they have iphones then for 90% of use they are great. I kept thinking i'd be better off with Cellular but as its not supported by O2 business I couldn't but in real terms its never really an issue. The watch even jumps on the wifi of networks your phone knows so if you are at home it will pickup text messages and notifications or even take calls around the house.

Was thinking of asking Santa for an Apple Watch for Xmas. Do you guys reckon they’re worth it or would I be just as well sticking with something cheaper like a xaomi mi band or a Fitbit.

what are the main advantages of an Apple Watch over these. Was just thinking Of buying the cheapest model series 3 iirc

Completely depends on your needs. They are very good if you are in the apple eco system. Definitely go for the Watch SE though, its going to be much better long term than Series 3.

you might be right as I didn’t realise the Series 3 was a 2017 model and may only have a couple of years watchOS support.
