Buying from steam question.

I'm getting the Orange Box and realised that it doesnt come with HL2 deathmatch, which was a disappointment. I've not played EP 1 or 2 though so i suppose the price is worth it for those. No idea what TF2 is like, or portal.

So im wondering, because i dont have a credit card, if i go to my sisters house and download steam there and buy the game on it will i be able to come back to my own computer and download it here instead?. Will the details of the credit card be tied to the account i make?, or is it possible to order from any card and it wont affect the steam account at all?.

if anybody can clear it up for me i would be grateful, 10 dollars or 5 quid cant go wrong for a great game.. might get Garrys mod aswell as i hear that is good?.
 
It doesn't matter which card you use, as long as the details match the account holder. You can purchase it at your sisters using her card and then download it on to your PC or you can set up paypal and use that on all steam transactions.

Cheers for the info. So if i end up getting a credit card soon it wont affect anything if i want to buy something from steam at a later date?
 
No, you can use a differrent card if you like.

Don't get a credit card though :( they're made from concentrated evil.
 
As long as you buy it using your steam account you can download and play it on any PC, although you can only be logged onto steam from one PC. That would be a massive error if you could be logged onto a few pc's at the same time.:cool:

Orange box is worth it for TF2 and Portal alone, an excellent online shooter and a wierd puzzly thing, with some old adventure shooter thrown in for free:rolleyes:*

If you are getting orange box you might as well grab garrys mod, an excellent blast, which has been modded itself to produce many game modes. Its worth getting GM alone just for Zombie Survival and Fort Wars!!!

BTW, is Left 4 Dead being made withe the Zombie Survival team, they seem very similar.....

*I would like to point out I have just this week started playing Half-Life 2, I've never really done the horror alien genre lol
 
Or you could order from somewhere like gamepley, save a couple of quid over the steam price, have it delivered nice and quick and have the box and DVD.
