I'm looking to change my HTC phone to an iPhone. Currently I have two options; an iPhone 4 16GB and a 4S 32GB. The 4 is priced at £160 and the 4S at £300. The 4 is out of warranty, while the 4S has 6 months left.

Generally are 4's cheap to fix? I like the idea of the 32GB 4S but at half the price the 4 is very tempting.

Opinions please :)

Best judge for yourself how easy the 4 is to fix (the 4S is also much the same): http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/iPhone-4-Teardown/3130/1

As for which to go for...I'd personally say that the difference between the 4 and 4S is greater than it first appears. The 4S is going to be/feel faster, and will obviously have a longer lifespan the 4 (which is now two generations old, don't forget). The feature-set of the 4S is currently the same as that of the 5, another consideration.

You can get some good deals on ebay at the moment. I just picked up an iphone 4 quite cheaply. But be prepared for some trouble. I would advise asking the seller as many questions regarding the condition as possible. The iphone 4 I picked up was sold as unlocked and perfect. It was actually locked to O2 and only average to good condition. The wake button while functional was clearly on the way out. Nothing major as it's only £30 to fix and I wanted it on o2 anyway. I managed to get a partical refund from the seller. The moral of the story is that sellers will try it on. You'll get it resolved but it can be a pain.

I wouldnt buy any iphone used.
Its the number one phone to be barred after being sold on.

I work at a phone repair shop so i know.

Plus iphones are the cheapest to repair and easy once you have done a few thousend
