Buying locked Iphone

Hi guys, thinking of buying Iphone 5 from well known auction site, the seller is top rated seller and the phone is listed as brand new and factory sealed. However it is locked to Vodafone, question is will I be able to unlock that? and use on other network?? Is there something to be worried about like this phone is on contract and will get blocked?

As I said the person seems legitimate with over 1k reviews and hes selling like 10 of them.

Unless the seller pays off the contract I don't see how you could unlock it. Vodafone surely won't unlock it while they have a financial interest in it, will they?

Well buying a sim locked phone is fine.

I question why a business seller would have so many of these though, however it is fine to buy.

They unlock phones for a small fee.

I don't know how it works, but I think if you are the original owner its a lot more straightforward to unlock it. But if you're a third party owner then its a little more difficult.

The thing is though if they're a business owner then it's likely they've bought it from someone else.

Vodafone will unlock for free as long as your account I.e your Voda sim is seen using that imei and their is a email attached to the account. They ask for the email address on the unlocking form yo fill out on there site. Takes 3 days to get sorted hope the helps. Although if he defaults on his contract Voda can block the phone

Do vodafone lock contract phones?

Thought it was just payg.
