Hi All

Absolute noob question regarding laptop memory I'm afraid! I've searched around but can't find any threads suiting my question particularly.

I'm looking to add some memory into my HP530 Laptop, but am unsure as to what ram I can buy compatibility-wise. I want to go from 2x512mb to 2x1gb (or possibly higher depending on cost and expected performance gain).

I've tried Crucial's memory scanning tool (found in another thread) but it doesn't recognise my system. I was wondering if anyone could recommend me some suitable parts?

This is my system info (returned - but not recognised - from the crucial scanning tool:

System Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
System Model: HP 530 Notebook PC(GU327AA#ABU)
Motherboard Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
Motherboard Model: 30D5
Maximum Memory Capacity: 4096 MB
Currently Installed Memory: 1024 MB
Available Memory Slots: N.A.
Number of Banks: 2
Dual Channel Support: N.A.
CPU Manufacturer: GenuineIntel
CPU Family: Intel(R) Celeron(R) M CPU 420 @ 1.60GHz Model 14, Stepping 8
CPU Speed: 1596 MHz

FYI I'm running XP.

Could anyone help please?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can.

Phil

Just giving this a bump seeing as I need to upgrade my sisters hp 530 to 2 gig also. Just want to confirm that it will be ok to use 5300 memory in this laptop since it uses 4200. I'm pretty sure thats fine, but just want to double check with someone.

Yeah it will be fine.

The memory will just down-clock to 533mhz if the laptop can't run it at 667mhz.

Tho I'd be very surprised if it can't run it at 667mhz.
