Has anyone here bought guitars or any other instruments from the US/Canada on reverb or ebay? There's certain drums that are only available across the pond, but I'm wondering what I could expect to pay in duties?

There's a snare drum I want which is £239 + £80 shipping from Canada. Any idea what I should expect to have to add to that? 20% vat, about 4% import tax, courier delivery charge about £8 or so. Anything else? I'm imagining around £400 all told, does that sound about right?

Expect to add 25% on top of the total cost including shipping for fees and VAT.

Basically if it is £1000 including shipping, put aside another £250 on top.

Thanks Raymond, so that works out about what I figured around £400. Jono, it's an aluminium 14 x 5 Ludwig Supraphonic LM400.The most recorded snare drum in history. :D I owned a 1967 one in the 1980s and it got stolen. Most examples have chrome pitting because the chrome over aluminium is known to degrade on this model. But the sound is fantastic.
The deeper LM402 version is the classic John Bonham snare.

I had bought 3 guitars from the States, all range from £1k to £1.5k and the 25% mark is about right.
