Buying office chairs in NI

Why is it impossible to get an office chair shipped to Northern Ireland? Been looking at getting a new office chair and basically every vendor only ships to mainland UK due to the customs changes in the Northern Ireland Protocol. I get the whole EU regulations for things such as food/medicine being restricted but.... office chairs? why?

Herman miller and basically any vendor that sells expensive office chairs refuse to ship here, I've had to resort to ringing a business furniture supplier in the hopes they'll sell to member of the public
 
I'm not familiar with the NI Protocol, but would ordering from the RoI be an option?
 
Might find ordering something from Amazon easier. I'm in the ROI and found it impossible to get a chair from the usual places. I was waiting 2 months and still no sign of a chair. Cancelled it and got one from Amazon in 3 days. We have 4 office chairs and 3 came from Amazon for this reason.
 
This has always been the case with NI particularly when it came to bulky items. I have noticed some changes with the NI protocol when ordering directly from suppliers from the mainland but it's not far off from what was there before the brexit vote.

Amazon has been a game changer, allowing for most bulky items to be delivered with reasonable delivery costs. I would also suggest trying some EU suppliers. I have ordered pallets of stock/supplies from Germany for free postage as an example. For the same items i would pay extortionate amounts in postage were I to order from the mainland.

Getting stuff from the UK in ROI has become a nightmare. I wonder if new supply lines in Europe are established what long term impact on UK exports will be.

Its a few years ago but I used these to get a Herman Miller delivered to NI, no mention of them not shipping to us either now - Delivery Information about Our Office Chairs (officechairsuk.co.uk)
 
I got a Razer Iksur gaming chair delivered no problem. I think if you keep looking you'll fund someone who will post to you.

I got next day at the time but looks like an embody is preorder for early feb for example
Give them a ring, believe I did at the time and they were more than helpful
