Would you ever buy second hand? And if so where??

With the new BDs coming out and games like BF3 forcing people to re-spec there are a lot of old components flying about. But have you or would you ever buy second hand? And if so where do people do it?

I have bought second hand cpu's, mobo's and ram off the bay. Only ever had a problem once and that was with a motherboard that just would'nt work. Got a refund from the seller for that without going through paypal. He even refunded my return postage!!

Stulid, what is the MM?

Okay so it sounds like it's not all pitfalls and trajedy!

I'm close to the end of a build and my money is very tight but I'm trying to find a GTX580 Gainward 3gb. I doubt anyone will be selling one second hand but you never know!

i have bought PSU's, RAM, Coolers, CPU, mobo, GFX cards and cases on well known action sites and on the MM

i would recommend that you NOT buy RAM from that well known auction site as mine just kept giving my BSOD and i resorted to replacing it

just remember to read EVERYTHING and if there is something that is important to you that they have not mentioned or there are no pics - ASK!

I think my problem with online sites i've found is that it's mostly business's selling and so it is a pretty standard price. I've had trouble finding second hand goods. I'm very impressed with OCs MM but I'm a bit away from that.

Still it's good to hear that exchanging of old hardware can work.

Some stuff I'd buy second hand like car parts e.g. Alloys, but never computer parts, unless they're really cheap (anybody got an i7 + mobo going for under £100?)

My CPU motherboard and GPU are all second hand from the bay (though it takes some patients waiting for the right price) Had them for a while now and still going strong.

You will always take a chance on second hand goods as if it breaks you have no warranty and no come back. Doesn't matter if its the bay or MM.

Agree about the MM on here, I have bought cpu, mobo, psu, ram, water cooling fittings and sold radiator, fans, case, xbxo games all without a problem :)

Certain components are fine to buy second hand. CPU's are one such example. They are pretty hard to kill and either work or they don't. Something like an SSD I wouldn't touch second hand though.
